Church #10 - St. Luke's, Barrington

I went here on Saturday morning with my friend Tom. We got lost on the way, and then we thought I had the Mass time wrong, which is apparently what happens every time Tom is with me, since the same thing happened at Fatima. When we pulled into the parking lot at about 8:50 for a 9am Mass, there were no other cars there, so we assumed there was a mistake. Luckily, it turns out that the congregation was just late in arriving.

As you would expect from Barrington, the church is extremely nice inside, and very well taken care of. It has a strange seating configuration - sort of like St. Jude in Lincoln, only more oddly shaped.

This is a view from a side aisle, not the main aisle. Notice the rows of pews all the way in the back.

The Mass was very nice. The priest asked the congregation for additional intentions after he gave his own, which I don't remember seeing at a daily Mass since college. The Mass had a very Marian bent - the priest mentioned her a lot, and there was a rosary immediately afterward.

Balcony view. When you look up at the ceiling from the floor, you mostly see those big brown support beams everywhere.

The parish community seems pretty active - they had a lot of free CDs and books, as well as advertisements for different ministries. Overall, it was a great destination for a Saturday morning, and a very nice modern-style church.

I've never seen a monitor like this in a balcony before. I'm assuming it's for the musicians to see what's happening in the Mass.
