Church #74 - St. Cecilia, Pawtucket

I always thought this looked like a big, awesome, old school church from the outside, and that's exactly what it is. The church is now part of the St. John Paul II parish, along with St. Leo's. St. Leo's is the dominant church in the parish, with only one Sunday Mass here at St. Cecilia's. St. Cecilia's does have a still-open (and hopefully thriving) school next door. There's an old convent across the street which doesn't look like it's used for anything at all anymore, but I could be wrong about that.

The church has a massive, high ceiling, and is made mostly of stone, which gives it a grandiose (in the good sense) and sadly unusual look. The altar area is the fancy, old-fashioned kind that I would love to experience as an altar server or lector. The most prominent piece of artwork is (of course) a big painting of JP2 in the front. I've been told that the bell tower of the church is the tallest thing in Pawtucket.
