I wanted to share a few pictures of this cloistered Dominican monastery, where my friend (and Rhode Island native) Maria has been since January.
Here is a video of the sisters that explains who they are and what they do:

The space inside the monastery where lay people are allowed is very small - a bathroom, a hallway, a meeting room (picture below) and the chapel. The chapel is split in half by a grill, with a couple dozen seats for the laity on one side (along with the tabernacle and altar) and the sisters on the other side. It was hard to get good pictures, but you can see the stalls where the sisters pray seven times a day.

We got to see the nuns doing one of their daily prayers at 3pm. They sang, chanted and read quietly in front of the Blessed Sacrament. I found it to be a tremendously beautiful and moving experience. These women are amazing, and they have a peace and grace about them that is almost impossible to find out in the secular world.
